October Volunteer Opportunities – DACA Workshops

Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Los Angeles (AAAJ) and the Los Angeles Office of Immigrant Affairs will be holding two DACA workshops on Saturday, October 19.  DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.  DACA offers a form of immigration relief for certain types of undocumented persons.  Under the DACA program, some undocumented young people who came to the U.S. as children and have pursued education or military service here can apply for deferred aciton, which will allow them to stay in the U.S.

AAAJ is in need of volunteer attorneys to assist clients by reviewing DACA applications at the workshop, which will be held in Orange County.  The event runs from 10:30am-5:00pm and includes a morning training session for volunteers followed by lunch (provided).  The DACA workshop will take place in the afternoon from 1:00pm-5:00pm.  Interested volunteers should contact Tiffany Panlilio: tpanlilio@advancingjustice-la.org.
